Opuwo, with a population of 15000+, is the fast growing capital of the Kunene Region in northwestern Namibia. It is home to the unique Himba people group. In the streets of Opuwo you will find Himba people, Herero, Damara, Dhimba, Caucasians, Basters and many others sharing the sidewalks.
ABBA is the ideal location if you are in Opuwo for a workshop as it is within walking distance of all government offices, schools, hospital and shopping centers.
ABBA is the ideal location from which to explore Kaokoland - we are within driving distance from the Epupa waterfalls, traditional Himba, Dhimba and Herero villages, Van Zyl's pass, Marienfluss, Kunene river, Sesfontein and many other awesome tourist attractions.
Driving Directions to ABBA
From Windhoek
Enter Opuwo from east. Pass Banks/OK Foods/Agra/Petrol Stations, at robot turn right (north) into Mbumbijazo Muharukua Avenue. You will pass different shops, as well as a lot of speed bumps. Continue for 1 km (from robot) and ABBA Guesthouse is on the right; you’ll see it just after having passed the police station.
From Epupa
Enter Opuwo from north. When the gravel road turns into a tar road (Mbumbijazo Muharukua Avenue) travel for 1.2 km (from start of tar road to ABBA), driving slow over the many speed bumps. ABBA Guesthouse is on the left.
From Sesfontein/Purros
Enter Opuwo from south-west. At the first stop turn right and drive over the bridge (road becomes tar here) . Continue on this road (Mbumbijazo Muharukua Avenue) for 2.2km (from bridge to ABBA). You will pass two schools, cross over the robot and continue past different shops, as well as a lot of speed bumps. ABBA Guesthouse is on the right, you’ll see it just after having passed the police station.
